“The idea for Salt and Fiber came to me while kitesurfing in Lomma. I work as a kitesurfing instructor during the summer, which means I spend a lot of time by the beach and in the water.

If you’ve ever been to a beach in the south of Sweden, you’ll know the shoreline is often covered in washed-up seagrass. As a designer and artist, I started to wonder what happens to all that material and whether it could be used in some way.

At first, I imagined it in an art context, but once I learnt more about its properties, I quickly saw the potential of its fibres for textiles. After many conversations, meetings and pitches, I’m thrilled to now be working on our innovation. It has already been quite a journey, and this is just the beginning.”

Moving Toward Our First Pilot

We’re thrilled to share that our proof of concept is up and running, and we’re looking ahead to launching our first pilot project. An exciting move that brings our vision closer to reality, turning locally sourced seagrass into sustainable fibers.
